Dear Incoming MSW Students,

Congratulations on your admission to the University of Washington School of Social Work! We’re thrilled to have you join our dynamic community of students, faculty, and staff.

The UW Master’s of Social Work is grounded in our School’s commitment to advance racial, social, economic, and gender justice at the micro, mezzo, and macro levels. Throughout your MSW education, you’ll engage with new theoretical frameworks, practice skills, and opportunities for critical self-reflection to equip you for advanced social work practice. Our students and graduates are some of the brightest stars and leaders in the profession – and at the forefront of social work practice for social justice.

You probably have a lot of questions about this new educational experience, and you will soon start receiving information about the program, tracking upcoming activities and requirements, and meeting many new staff and faculty. Watch for communication from two important resources at the School: the Office of Student Services and the Office of Field Education.

From this brief welcome until you graduate with your MSW, please remember that everyone in the School is here to support you in achieving your learning goals. We hope you will become familiar with our MSW program's statement of purpose and that it will serve as a guide for your educational journey with us from today until you join the ranks of thousands of MSW graduates who are practicing locally and around the world.
