For this course, you will keep a design sketchbook to record all of your ideation and notes about your projects.
Get a blank sketchbook, and get in the habit of carrying it around with you and using it for your project notes. The sketchbook does not have to be one dedicated exclusively to this course. You'll want to photograph or scan your sketches to include them in your process blog.
There is real value in recording your ideas by hand, on paper. In fact, the whole process of prototyping can be considered one giant sketching exercise. Bill Buxton's book on "Sketching User Experiences" is the ultimate word on this. And don't worry about whether or not your sketches are any "good;" you don't have to draw well, just communicate your ideas with a sketch.
To get credit for this assignment, just bring your sketchbook to the final class and show us your project ideation sketches.
