This assignment is an original, analytic book review of at least 300 words (it may be longer) addressing the following elements:
* The author's main argument (briefly stated)
* The evidence presented, and types of sources and methods the author uses to make the case
* The relationship to broader political and economic transformations of the period under consideration (i.e. information you have learned thus far in lecture)
* Your assessment of whether the author delivers on what s/he sets out to do, and the strengths and shortcomings of the book.
One way to approach the structure of this essay is to devote one paragraph to each of the four points above, but you may depart from this format and order as long as all the required information is delivered. I encourage you to cite specific passages from the text (with page numbers) to support your case.
