This project is an ethnography (a fancy word for a profile or report on a demographic) of a community in Seattle. This is the "major" project of the quarter and is focused on learning how to research a topic that you are interested in. In today's world, we have so many different ideas, people, and events going on that it can be hard to see how it all fits together.

Over the course of this quarter, we will be learning to engage with these communities, by researching and thinking critically about who, what, where, why, and how they got to be. We will be taking a closer look at one or two communities, with each of you deciding on a specific topic that you would like to focus on.

Art, the environment, urban design, local politics, all of these topics are the factors that result in the communities that we see in Seattle. I would like you all to think about what you value most of these topics and do some research for the community that you have been selected for.

CoRe Part 1

Propose a topic that you would like to research and convene with your teammates on what a central theme of your project is.

CoRe Part 2

Do some research through the UW library system to dig deep and understand what your topic means for your community.

CoRe Part 3

Synthesize all of these topics so that you can present your findings to the rest of your classmates and for the world to better know what makes your community unique.
