Day 5: Taking Your Research to the Next Level

Graduate-level research takes into account broader issues of audience, accessibility, and impact.  All research has an implicit audience and purpose, but graduate students can take their research to the next level by considering these issues explicitly at the start of their programs and projects. Why is your research important? What groups are you trying to reach, and how? These questions help remind us of the stakes of our disciplines, and can help us make strategic decisions for planning, communicating, and promoting research over time.

In this module, you will learn about:

  • Research impact
  • Communicating your research
  • Open Educational Resources (OER)
  • Creative Commons

This is the last module of GSRI, so you will also have a chance to reflect on some of the materials you learned about throughout the week.
