Technical Communication Analysis (Thursday)

Technical Composition Analysis 

For this assignment you will share your example technical composition with a partner and answer the following questions. You must answer the questions based on your partner’s technical composition example. Both partners must submit responses by the end of class.

Questions:

1. Who is your partner?
2. What is their example (genre)? Where is it from? What field is it associated with?
3. How did they find their example?
4. What are some conventions of the genre? List as many as you can.
5. Who is the audience for the example? Where do you think the authors intended for the example to be displayed?
6. With which or the two general purposes does this document more closely align? Does it help others to learn about a subject, carry out a task, or make a decision, or does it reinforce or change attitudes and motivate readers to take action? If the example appears to have some combination of these purposes, which seems to be the most important? How can you tell? 
7. What is the problem the example is addressing? Does the example provide clear solutions?
8. Has the example been designed to facilitate usability? How does it use words and images to communicate information? Does it create a positive impression? Is it easy to navigate and understand? Does it address readers with various physical abilities? 
9. Is the example concise? How well does it communicate a lot of information in an economical manner? Can busy readers scan it and grasp the main point?
10. Does the example appear professional? Why or why not?
