Grading Policy for SAs and MPs
I will grade Short Assignments and Major Projects as either complete or incomplete. I will not be assessing how “well” you write, but rather whether you have completed the assignment’s goals.
Your assignment will be marked incomplete if it...
- Does not meet the spirit of the assignment
- ex. if I ask you to write a rhetorical analysis on an assigned text and you submit a paper that does no rhetorical analysis. Or, I ask for a complex claim and you do not make a complex claim.
- ex. I ask for 5 pages and you submit 4.5 pages (*Works Cited pages do not count towards the page count*)
- Is inaccessible to me (aka corrupt file or inaccessible google doc)
- Does not follow the MLA guidelines below
-
Must have in-text citations (Last name Page number)
-
Must have a Works Cited page that contains at least the author's name and the title of work
-
Must cite texts correctly throughout the paper and the Works Cited page ("short stories" vs Novellas)
-
Late and/or incomplete assignments do not get feedback. If you submit an assignment late, I will count it as "complete." However, more than 2 late assignments will hurt your participation grade.
