Week 1

In class: Introduction to the course: Topics, learning goals, syllabus, expectations, grading. Introducing Project 1.

Possible Field Trip to UW Farm (weather permitting) https://botanicgardens.uw.edu/center-for-urban-horticulture/gardensuw-farm/ Meeting Farm Manager Perry Acworth at World Cultural Kitchen structure (East side of the farm) at 2pm. 

Homework for Tuesday, 10/3:

Read Object Implosion assignment and bring an object to class that is made of a single material, the origin of which you have researched. 

Read Donna Haraway Staying with the Trouble - Introduction only (get a general sense of Haraway's position, the main ideas for her book, and what she means by SF) - bring your notes and questions to class.

Week 8

Due: Artist in-depth research. Choose one project to research from Resources for Assignment #3: Creating RADICALLY and understand the context and process of fully.

Bring notes on this to the class discussion along with your Project 3 Rough Plans  

In class: Projects teams are formed.

Lecture to introduce significant artist and designer examples and key concepts.
