HIV Screening Volunteer
Volunteer Role
Student-run, culturally competent HIV testing services equip future physicians with advanced risk assessment skills and the tools to integrate regular HIV testing into their future practice. Students are well trained in sexual history taking, HIV risk assessment, risk reduction, motivational interviewing, and resource referral. The goal is to foster future physicians who will be more competent providers for LGBTQ+ and IDU patients. Students also develop the critical skill of cultural humility and gain an ability to work with a diverse patient panel.
