Grading Scale
Course grades are calculated on a 100-point (percent) scale and converted to the University of Washington 4.0-scale prior to final submission. Conversion is based on a linear scale recommended by Sharon Hargus and Laurie Poulson in the Department of Linguistics and available here Links to an external site.. Note that the conversion used for this course differs from their linear scale for numerical grades of 4.0 and 3.9.
Percentage ranges for this course for each numerical grade are as follows:
96-100%=4.0; 93-96%=3.9; 92%=3.8; 91%=3.7; 90%=3.6; 89%=3.5; 88%=3.4; 87%=3.3; 86%=3.2; 85%=3.1; 84%=3.0; 83%=2.9; 82%=2.8; 81%=2.7; 80%=2.6; 79%=2.5; 78%=2.4; 77%=2.3; 76%=2.2; 75%=2.1; 74%=2.0; 73%=1.9; 72%=1.8; 71%=1.7; 70%=1.6; 69%=1.5; 68%=1.4; 67%=1.3; 66%=1.2; 65%=1.1; 64%=1.0; 63%=0.9; 62%=0.8; 61%=0.7; <0.7=0.0
Note that, as grading in this course is generous, I do not round up in converting scores to 4.0 grades.
