Instruction Flyer and Presentation

With a partner [EDIT: Students voted to do this assignment individually rather than in pairs], student will create a flyer for an assigned wisdom instruction and present it poster-session style during class time, then turn in the flyer on Canvas. What wisdom could the audience learn from this instruction?

• The flyer should cover the front and back of one page.
• The flyer should include the following information (not necessarily in this order):
  • Your names
  • The name of your instruction
  • When and where your instruction comes from, as best as we can tell
  • Whom the instruction is supposedly from and whom it is addressed to
  • A list of the topics your instruction covers (for example, avoiding angry people, respecting boundary markers, being honest, respecting the gods)
  • Three quotes from your instruction that you think are especially wise (be ready to explain what they mean and why they are wise when you present)
  • Two quotes from your instruction that you think are puzzling or are actually bad advice (be ready to explain)
  • Something unusual or distinctive about your instruction
• You can include images, as long as they are relevant and clear and you are still able to fit your required information. (Maps are often a good idea!)
• Be ready for each student (alone) to present the flyer to classmates.
• The students should bring in 15 copies of the flyer so that they can give them to fellow students. (If you need me to print copies for you, email me (kmed1@uw.edu) your flyer by 7 am on April 15^th. I can only print in black and white.)
