Required reading: “Assyrian Proverbs” (BTM); “Proverb Collections from Hattusa” (WLBA); Proverbs chapters 10-13 (Bible); Proverbs 30 (Bible)
- The Proverb collections from Hattusa are not in the local Hittite language, but in Mesopotamian Akkadian. Why would the Hittites have Akkadian proverb collections?
- Pick one of the proverbs from the Hittite collection. What is it? What do you think it means? Do you think this is good advice?
