Required reading: “Assyrian Proverbs” (BTM); “Proverb Collections from Hattusa” (WLBA); Proverbs chapters 10-13 (Bible); Proverbs 30 (Bible)

1. The Proverb collections from Hattusa are not in the local Hittite language, but in Mesopotamian Akkadian. Why would the Hittites have Akkadian proverb collections?
2. Pick one of the proverbs from the Hittite collection. What is it? What do you think it means? Do you think this is good advice?
3. The proverbs in the Assyrian collection can be a bit rude. What are five topics that these proverbs deal with? (Don’t just read the headings… the headings are sometimes wrong…)
