Extra Credit Assignment from Syllabus

For this assignment, you will read an extra reading, summarize it, and review it in 2-3 pages double-spaced. Choose readings labelled EXTRA on Canvas that are secondary sources (scholarly discussions published within the last hundred years). Turn your reviews in on Canvas.

Your review should include: Full bibliographic information on the article/chapter, a summary of the article (What is the evidence? What argument does the author make based on that evidence?), and a discussion of the significance of this information for our understanding of Jewish identity. You may also include a critique of the author’s argument if you desire. Make sure to write clearly and to check your work for grammar and spelling errors.
