Week 02 Overview
Introduction
Welcome, everyone, to Week 2 of English 131. Our goal this week is centered around the concept of rhetoric.
This week, we'll look at a few essays and documentaries to determine how we can view food through a rhetorical lens. How is food viewed rhetorically? Can we draw parallels between the process of cooking and writing? What does authenticity mean in regards to cooking? How does our relationship with food and cooking change as a collective vs. individually? In our development of rhetoric, we should aim to be able to answer these questions and more.
At the end of the week, using your new understanding of rhetoric, you'll be able to use the ideas of rhetorical situation, appeals, and context to write a restaurant review, which is Short Assignment #1.
