Mental Health & Safety
UW Counseling Center
Students are often at high risk of mental health concerns. This has been greatly exacerbated due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The UW Counseling Center offers multiple options for students seeking help coping with stress and mental health concerns:
- Short-term individual counseling
- Group counseling options, including the Umoja Interpersonal Processing and Support group for Brown and Black women (undergrads considered if space permits), Act for Anxiety - Unstuck, Between Cultures (for bi-/multi-cultural and bi-/multi-racial students), Procrastination and Perfectionism Group, Queer TTRPG (Table-top Role Playing Game) Group, Getting through Grief, and Understanding Self and More.
- Workshops on various topics, including a BIPOC grief group, a drop-in space for break ups, pet therapy, self-compassion, mindfulness, yoga, and meditation.

UW Campus Food Pantry
“The campus food pantry supplies UW students, staff, and faculty with nonperishable groceries and select fresh produce for no cost. Anyone with a Husky ID is eligible to receive support. The Pantry uses a pop-up model with locations in HUB 214 and the Kelly Ethnic Cultural Center and runs once a month at each site.”
The Q Center
“We facilitate and enhance a brave, affirming, liberatory, and celebratory environment for students, faculty, staff, and alumni of all sexual and gender orientation, identities, and expressions. The University of Washington Q Center is a fierce, primarily student run resource center dedicated to serving anyone with or without a gender or sexuality – UW students, staff, faculty, alum, and community members.
