Assignment #2 resources
Tools and supplies for felting:
old towel
a pair of dishwashing gloves
sushi mat or textured plastic place mat
voile 1/2yard (voile is a synthetic sheer fabric, much like curtain material, importantly, it has no texture and it is not an open weave)
sharpie
scissors
sewing kit
small plastic tub
we will have available:
Dawn dish detergent
Wool for wet felting
Corriedale Wool Rowing
you buy wool by the ounce
if you can don't purchase kits and other packaged goods from non-fiber retailers
Good places to order from:

1-2 oz. for a small needle felting project
4 oz. is needed for a small felting project (like a simple hat)
8-12 oz. is needed for a medium size sculptural project
Here is a video from Youtube walking you through some of the basic steps of wet felting (note, the video is full of misleading statements. Neither the "olive oil soap" not the "rolling with the pool noodle" is a necessary step. We use Dawn detergent for soap and hands for felting, sushi mat or throwing for fulling the felt.)
