Instructions

Being part of a learning group provides students with an opportunity to connect with each other, ask questions related to the course, and get support from their peers. Your learning group in this course consists of fellow students who share your goal of learning. Each week of the quarter (except for the first and last weeks) you will communicate with your group for at least 20 minutes about course concepts, materials, and activities (e.g., homework, readings, ideas from lecture and discussion, etc.). You are welcome to meet in person or online. When you meet, everyone must be able to engage in the discussion. While your learning group will be responsible for submitting some small assignments, it’s important to remember that this is a very low-stakes activity. If you miss a learning group meeting, it won’t irreparably damage your final grade.

  1. Before you meet for the first time, coordinate with your group to create a shared document in Google that each member can access and contribute to. Here’s how to find your group in Canvas.
  2. Once your group has created your shared Google doc, each member of the group will share the URL to the shared Google document through the “Learning Group Google doc” assignment.
  3. Each week, communicate with your group for at least 20 minutes. During the meeting, record questions or discussion points on your shared Google document. The document might prove helpful when it comes time to study or work on an assignment.

After the week’s meeting, each group member needs to go into Canvas and complete the “Weekly Learning Group” assignment for the week.
