Your final four figures will be due at 5pm on Friday 21 March (you may submit at any time before this). These figures should be substantially improved over the draft versions presented for group discussion and the single best figure presented in class as a PowerPoint.
The best portfolio of four figures will be awarded the Dean's Visualization Prize. At the end of the term, a committee will examine the submissions and choose the best 1-3 portfolios. The winner/s will receive paid admission to ER Tufte's course on visualization http://www.edwardtufte.com/tufte/courses when it is next taught in Seattle. The course includes all four of Tufte's classic books on information visualization. In the event that the recipient is unable to take the course, they may elect to receive a selection of data visualization or programming books of equivalent value.
The selection committee will consist of the Dean of the College of the Environment, Lisa Graumlich (who has final say), the instructor Trevor Branch, and two other members, likely Marilyn Ostergren of the Information School at UW, and Liz Neeley of COMPASS.
