1. Give your main page a title by entering it in the Page Name box.

2. In this first section, which you can think of as your portfolio's homepage, you will want to provide an introduction to your portfolio. It is your opportunity to welcome your audience and explain the purpose of your portfolio.

  • Include an explanation of the purpose of the portfolio:
  • How does it relate to the course outcomes and the course itself?
  • You might want to insert an image that will give your audience greater insight into the purpose explained above.

3. In addition to being an introduction to your portfolio, your homepage is also an introduction to your critical reflection. You need to welcome the reader, establish your line of inquiry, and present your overall argument. Remember, in an effective critical reflection, you:

  • make a claim about how your writing as a whole responds to the requirements in the English Portfolio Evaluation Rubric. (This is not about making a grade claim, but about making an accomplishments claim);
  • identify, analyze, and argues for how your portfolio selections demonstrate key course outcomes. This is successfully done through quoting and analyzing your own work is direct relation to the outcomes and the rubric;
  • use the language of the course goals, the assessment rubric, and your own assignments in ways that support your portfolio claim.
