Book Arts, visit 1
- Due Oct 24, 2022 by 4pm
- Points None
We will start class by meeting with librarian Sandra Kroupa in the Special Collections classroom. (The second part of class will be devoted to workshop.)
Sandra will introduce us to the library's amazing collection of artists' books. These items are wondrous in themselves, but I think also serve as a tactile, interactive, and different way for you to think about the nature of the book, about ideas related to sequence, and about how the reader's experience of a physical interaction with the book.
As you're viewing the items, please make sure to note any artists, techniques, structures, topics, or types of images that you find particularly intriguing. During our second visit, Sandra will pull materials related to your specific interests.
Meet in the Special Collections classroom. To get there, enter Allen Library north (the part attached to Suzallo), take the elevator down to the basement, turn right, turn right again down the corridor. The classroom is about halfway down on your right. When you enter, place any coats and bags in the closet. You may only use pencil and loose paper to take notes.
