W2_Thurs_Project Assignment
- Due No Due Date
- Points None
In-class activity, Thurs, Jan 12th: Starting discussing with your peers and working on ideas for your project.
Where do I begin? Make sure it’s something you’re interested in since you’ll be working on this throughout the quarter.
Read the Canvas list of topics and scan assigned readings in our syllabus for suggestions.
Consider your interests.
Between today and next Thursday, Jan 19th, read a little more about what interests you – what can you find online, in the library, in course readings (current and past). Consider related concepts – legal violence, digital border, alienation, surveillance capitalism - that may be useful in your final paper.
Peer to peer: "I think I’d like to learn more about …I could look at…My database could be about … " Help each other work out ideas.
Professor check-in: What are we each thinking so far? I might pair up students working on similar ideas…I might join the class on one project.
By next Thursday, Jan 19th:
I will have read about my topic of interest.
I will have decided the source(s) of content for my database – what I will be looking at to get information for my database.
I will have created some initial categories of interest: location, type of bill, demographics, technology.
I will share this in class with peers and receive feedback on what to expand/narrow, where to look, who to work with in class, etc.
