Open Access
Open access is an international movement that seeks to grant free and open online access to academic information. Open access is a publishing model for scholarly communication that makes research information available to readers at no cost, as opposed to the traditional subscription model in which readers have access to scholarly information by paying a subscription, usually via libraries. Copyright and Fair Use
Copyright protects original works of expression that are fixed in a tangible medium. Protection is automatic and attaches to work upon its creation.
- Copyright includes all of these exclusive rights:
- to reproduce the work
- to prepare derivative works based upon the original work
- to publicly distribute copies of the work
- to publicly perform the work
- to publicly display the work.
