Personal Meeting ID and Personal Link
Understanding your personal meeting ID (PMI)
Every Zoom account includes a personal meeting ID (PMI). This code functions as a virtual link to your personal meeting room, where you can host instant meetings with colleagues or people you meet with regularly.
A personal meeting ID is different from a unique meeting ID, which Zoom will create by default for a newly scheduled meeting.
Your PMI is like your personal digital office space. If someone knows your PMI, they will be able to visit this virtual space at any time (unless meetings are set to open with a waiting room, in which case you have the option to "admit" someone when they arrive). It can be handy to have spaces like this for informal meetings with people you know, but if enough people have access to your personal meeting room, it makes it easier for people to unintentionally interrupt other meetings that you hold in that space.
We recommend sharing your PMI with only those people you work closely with. For class meetings, please schedule a new Zoom meeting with an automatically-generated, unique meeting ID.
The meeting ID for your PMI can be edited from your Profile page Links to an external site. in the Zoom web portal. Details are listed under the "Meeting" section on this page. From here, you can also customize your Personal Link to provide another quick way to invite people to your PMI. This allows you to create a custom URL that points directly to your meeting link.

NOTES:
- You can use your Personal Meeting ID to quickly invite a colleague or small group to an impromptu Zoom meeting with you.
- When a Zoom meeting is scheduled, a unique "meeting ID" and URL are created for only that meeting (or set of recurring meetings). Unique meeting IDs cannot be edited. Best practice for class meetings is to use the automatically generated, unique Zoom meeting ID.
- When a recurring meeting is scheduled, Zoom automatically creates a single meeting ID that works across all occurrences of the meeting.
- It's possible to use your personal meeting ID for a scheduled meeting, but we recommend only using it for smaller meetings with known colleagues.
