Host an instant meeting

Student sitting at a desk typing on a laptop.An instant meeting allows you to start a meeting immediately without scheduling in advance. Instant meetings are ideal when you want to have an impromptu conversation: No scheduling is required.

Invite people to the meeting as soon as you start the meeting.

Or, people you have previously shared your personal meeting ID with can join the meeting whenever you decide to meet. 

Start an instant meeting from two locations

  • Canvas Zoom
  • Zoom desktop application

    1. Open the Zoom link from Canvas navigation panel.
    2. Select the Personal Meeting Room tab.

    1. Scroll the bottom of the Personal Meeting Room and select: Start this Meeting.

    1. Select the orange tab to Start an instant meeting.
    2. Use the small arrow drop-down to select options for the instant meeting.
    3. Start instant meeting with video (or no video).
    4. Choose to use your Personal Meeting ID for the instant meeting (or generate a unique meeting ID).
    5. Copy the meeting ID or Invitation to send to participants.
