Building on your research for your Inequality Policy Analysis, you should translate your research into a short op-ed. Op-eds are articles that present strong, well-informed opinions on any variety of topics. They do so in a way that attempts to convince readers that their viewpoint is the correct one. There are several goals in an op-ed, shared in common with much of writing:
1. Hook/Strong Lede - how can you draw your reader in and help them understand the gravity of the topic you're exploring?
2. Clear Thesis - what will you argue, and why do you think your position is the correct one?
3. Clear Evidence - what evidence will you focus on, and how will your organize and present it, to help your reader make sense of your thesis?
Your op-ed will probably be between 500-1000 words. You can check out this Harvard resource to learn more about writing op-eds Links to an external site..
