Prompt 1) How does Heng’s concept of race help us understand the potential limits or ambiguities in Maurice’s reception among medieval Christian audiences?

Prompt 2) Consider the varied origins and the gender of the enslaved people in the Mediterranean Christian states. How did they determine the kind of labor they were required to perform and the forms of exploitation to which they were subjected?
