Section Participation

The participation grade is based on your attendance and participation in Friday discussion sections. Everyone is allowed to miss one section without penalty and participation grades will be distributed as follows:

100% for attending section and always contributing to discussion (whether in a small or large group)

90% for attending section and usually contributing to discussion (whether in a small or large group)

80% for attending section and sometimes contributing to discussion (whether in a small or large group)

70% for the rare occasion when a student attends section consistently, but contributes absolutely nothing all quarter

0% is reserved for students who do not attend section at all during the quarter

10% will be deducted from the total participation grade for each absence after the one permitted with no penalty (this amounts to 1% off of your total course grade for each additional absence)
