This assignment asks you to imagine yourself in the future and bring your aspiration to this future. You can choose this future to be in 5 years, 50 years or 500 years (You have to choose one before you begin conceptualizing the project)
You are asked to research the history of votives Links to an external site. and votive artifacts from various cultures. What connections do you find between artifact and ritual (in other words, the objects and the cultural processes used to make, wear, and use them)?
Your assignment is to utilize this research for conceptualizing a wearable which connects your aspiration for a Future You to materials, shapes and your own body.
Consider not only the form, but also the movement and potential for performance, which may include sounds, scents, movements, etc.
We are using deconstructed clothing and wet felted wool for this assignment. Your project must be able to demonstrate fluency with at least 2 of the techniques learned in this module.
