OPTION 1: Praxis talk
Once during this quarter, you will bring to class your lesson plan for a lesson that you have taught and you will discuss how theory intersects with practice in the context of this lesson.
This may be a lesson that you developed from scratch or adapted from existing materials. It must be an actual lesson that you have taught as part of your work with the Cooperating teacher, if possible, or in another context.
When you present, please bring copies of:
- The lesson plan, including a brief description of the class, students, classroom setting, and objectives;
- Your written reflection (about a page single-spaced) on the lesson, including your thoughts on the following questions:
- What did you like about the lesson plan before you taught it?
- What theoretical concepts were you drawing on in the lesson? Did your relationship with the theory support your practice? Did you experience a disjuncture between theory and practice?
- What did you like and dislike about the lesson?
- What did you learn, how would you revise your lesson plan, what would you do differently next time?
Please be concrete and include examples. You are expected to speak informally for 10- 15 minutes. The lesson plans and reflection might be included as part of your portfolio when you complete your master’s degree.

You will share your plan in class the Friday before you facilitate the session to get feedback from us. You will be expected to talk for 10-15 minutes. Please bring copies of:
- The lesson plan, including your goals, activities, materials, etc.
- And a brief rationale explaining your lesson planning choices informed by the scholarship and what you have learned so far in the program.
The two deliverables must be submitted to Canvas.
