RESEARCH: Conduct a literature review (optional, 20+ hours, repeatable)

Many issues are labeled research. These issues can't be resolved in one quarter, but it is possible to make progress on them by identifying prior research on the topic. Consult with Amy and other researchers on the topic for topics, keywords, and reading suggestions, use academic search engines like Google Scholar and Semantic Scholar, follow citations and "cited by" links to scan the network of scholarship, and write a detailed summary with references of the prior work on the topic. Submit it as a comment on the issue, then submit a link to the comment for credit. You may need to iterate on your writing before it is approved for credit.

You can submit this multiple times and get credit for each. If you submit multiple, include all issues for which you're requesting credit, not just the latest.
