Realism Story (the Traditional Story) Draft
- Due Apr 11 by 11:59pm
- Points 0
- Submitting a file upload
- File Types docx and doc
Write a story that uses all the techniques of realism that we discussed. After our class discussions, I will return to this assignment, list them. I will also add a rubric just for the draft here.
After you all submit your drafts here, I will create the workshop groups and assign the dates for discussing each draft (April 14, 16, or 21). If it will be impossible for you to attend class on one of those days, email or message me in Canvas and let me know.
If you are tempted to revise your work between Friday night and your workshop, I urge you to leave it alone. UNLESS you have a total brainstorm and want to change something major that will completely affect how your story is read. If you feel you need to do that, you MUST email your groupmates no later than 48 before your workshop.
I'm going to be quite strict about the formatting requirements for this story. We'll discuss why in class.
- 5-10 pages double-spaced (1250-3000 words)
- 1 inch margins, Times New Roman 12 point font
- Title
- Your name
- page numbers#
- Word file (doc or docx). If you absolutely cannot create or convert to a Word file, speak to me.
This rough draft will just receive a grade of complete or incomplete based on whether it is turned in on time. See the rubric for what counts as "complete." If it's not turned in on time, 15 points will be deducted from the grade on your final version. You will also probably miss out on receiving helpful feedback from your classmates.

Complete Story Arc
Gets to the end of the story. We know what the outcome will be. Skeleton of the whole story. Yes, even if you need to include brackets with brief notes about parts you still need to write.

Not JUST things in brackets
Good majority of the story should actually be written. Draft should NOT just be a series of brackets.
