research subject and working bibliography

This assignment asks you to identify your proposed area of research. State your topic or research question in a paragraph or two. Include a working bibliography - some combination of primary and secondary sources relevant to your topic.

I am aware that your topic may be tentative at this point. It's not unusual for topics to shift once research begins. Some topics turn out to be unfeasible. Sometimes we uncover a new possible direction. The point of this assignment is to edge you toward commitment to a topic. That said, do let me know if, at some future date, your topic substantially shifts from what you describe here.
