Hello!

Welcome to my site. I am currently in my last quarter of my freshman year in the University of Washington Bothell. This website contains artifacts that I have chosen to show a main theme of my freshman year. One of my artifacts is a video game that me and my group members created from our first DC class, Digital Thinking. My second artifact is a research essay I wrote in my second DC class, Participatory Media Culture, on how the PC game The Sims 3 relates to Jane McGonigal's 14 Fixes for Reality. The third artifact is an animation I worked on in my CSS 107 class using a program called Alice.

Hope you enjoy!

About Me

My name is Norell Tagle. I am a male freshman at UW Bothell and am currently 18 years old. I am originally from the Philippines, but I grew up in the Middle East. After staying a couple of years in the Philippines, we moved to Doha, Qatar and stayed there for a few more years. Then we moved to Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates just in time for first grade. I spent about 12 years in Abu Dhabi and I just came here to the US last August. However, since I studied at a Canadian and an American international school over there, I was surrounded by people of many different ethnicities and cultural backgrounds. Therefore there was not such a huge culture shock for me when I moved here. As a result of all that, I am fluent in English, can understand Tagalog, know a little bit of Spanish and French and can read Arabic.

Like many kids, I was really into video games when I was in middle school. I got really into a particular video game that I could not get enough of it. I wanted to see more of it, and because it was unlikely that the producers of the game were going to make a sequel of it, I thought to myself “I wish I was able to create a sequel myself.” So that got me interested in wanting to pursue a career in video game design. A couple of years later though, I started leaning in more towards animation. They’re not too far apart from each other but I just thought making animated movies would be more interesting. I'm thinking of majoring in either CSS or IMD. As of now, my dream goal is to be one of the animators for either Pixar or Dreamworks.
