Who are we?

We are all current or former members of the University of Washington Language & Rhetoric Colloquium.

Holly Shelton is a PhD candidate in the English Department at UW. She teaches interdisciplinary science writing, and her research interests include literacy sponsorship. She is a former Kuyper Fellow with Graduate Christian Fellowship, and she currently attends Bellevue Presbyterian Church.

Zhenzhen He-WeatherfordLinks to an external site. works as an Assistant Professor at the English department of Bellevue College. She received her Ph.D. in Language and Rhetoric from University of Washington in 2019, and she currently attends Faith Bible Church (Seattle). 

Ahmad Alharthi is a PhD candidate in the English Department at UW. His research interests include critical applied linguistics, second language writing, and English as a lingua franca.

Shane Peterson is a PhD candidate in the English Department at UW. He received his BA in English Literature with minors in editing and writing & rhetoric at Brigham Young University. His research interests include rhetorics of crisis, religious studies, and apocalypticism. He is writing his dissertation about environmental rhetorics in the American Southwest.

Shauna K. Searcy is a PhD candidate in the English Department at UW.  She teaches courses on Multimodality, and her research focus is on language, culture, and composition. She is currently a Kuyper Fellow with the Graduate Christian Fellowship.
