Learning Lab: Draft Your Syllabus Engagement Strategy
- Due No Due Date
- Points None
Objective |
Choose and create a plan for a syllabus engagement strategy for your course.
Instructions |
In an earlier lab you should have edited the Syllabus Section of your course and linked to your complete syllabus. Later in the course you will have learned enough to build one of the ideas for syllabus engagement into your course.
For now, your task is to choose one of the syllabus engagement assignment ideas and write up your plan and prompts for it. Some things to consider as part of your plan:
- Syllabus Walkthrough: Will you be incorporating and introduction of the course and/or yourself into the video? Have you written those out?
- Syllabus Quiz: What questions do you want students to answer? If you want the quiz to be auto-graded, compose your questions as multiple choice.
- Syllabus Annotation: What are your prompts and questions that guide the annotations? Have you used shared documents or an annotation system like hypothes.is before?
- Syllabus Scavenger Hunt: What do you want students to find? Will your scavenger hunt be participatory, a quiz, or a document that is returned to you? Compose the questions and, if appropriate, the activities you want to incorporate.
- Syllabus Reflection: What prompts will you use for reflection? Do you plan to have this submitted using text boxes in a quiz or as a document?
And for any of these that might be paired with a walkthrough or be used on their own: will the assignment be graded? Will it be required as part of a prep module? Will it be worth points and, if so, how many?
