In your post, describe those moments in the readings that may have upset your preconceived notions about Italian food culture.
How would you describe the central food values expressed by Counihan's informants?
How would you compare and contrast an Italian food view with your own? Your analysis will need to engage with those conditions forming your own food identity (family history, class, urban/rural identity, food access, etc.), so it is entirely appropriate to incorporate stories from a personal, subjective standpoint.
You can use the model of Chapter 2, which uses the methodology of a "food-centered life history" to get at the values we invest in food. This means using your own food memories as a vehicle for expressing your food view.
Don't forget to draw quotes from the readings as a demonstration of your engagement and how you are processing what you are learning.
