Purpose

The purpose of this task is for you to demonstrate your knowledge and skills related to the development and selection of learning experiences and strategies that affirm and respect family, cultural, and social diversity, including language differences in the support of students with disabilities. Through your work with students you will demonstrate how you develop and select instructional approaches that are inclusive of the diverse backgrounds of the students with whom you work. 

Task Overview

As you prepare to document this competency, consider your work with students with disabilities either in your, classroom, school, or in the community. Identify instructional approaches and experiences that you have developed and selected that evidence your respect and affirmation of family, cultural, and social diversity. In the sections that follow you will a) provide a description of the context and approach, b) an analysis of your approach, c) a reflection on what was learned by you as teacher, and d) items that serve as artifacts of your practice.
