This class has helped me analyze different modes and become more confident in my analysis. Before, I really only had one way of analyzing and that was through literary techniques. Now, I can happily say that I have expanded my arsenal of various techniques. I can see comics, movies, books, and more through various different lenses to understand their true meanings.
To be blunt, this class will help me fulfill my composition credit. You can't disregard that. However, it will also aid me in pursuing a humanities major in the future. I'm not entirely sure what I want to major in right now, but I'm leaning towards English because I enjoy it so much. Taking this class definitely helped further that bias! This was such a unique class to take and I had so much fun. I mean, who thought you could learn so much about comic books? It's such a pleasant detour from typical academics.
This final assignment has aided me as well. Going back to revise my assignments and first drafts is, admittedly, not something I do enough. Being forced to look at my assignments through the lenses of the various outcomes has helped me develop my editing skills. I will implement this into my routine more often when it comes to writing. Too often do I settle with the rough first draft rather than going in to edit and revise out mistakes.
Now steering away from an academic perspective, I want to mention how great this class was for my introduction to college. Even though we are all limited by the pandemic, this class was forgiving to a freshman college student and I appreciate that. It was fun to read comics (I especially loved Cosmoknights!) with diverse casts of characters, which is such a nice change from your typical straight white man protagonist. I hope you enjoyed the various screenshots from LOONA's music videos! These last two are from their music videos for "Star" and "Favorite".
Thank you for a lovely quarter, Dr. Daud!
