When writing a paper of any kind, there is always one aspect in which many people have a difficult time doing, not that it is difficult, but because it takes a long time to do. Outcome 4 deals with being able to substantially revise one's paper, correcting the issues raised by your instructors, peers, and yourself in order to make sure the paper flows. This is a very important aspect for making your paper as good as it can be. Many times when people write something down it sounds much better in their head than it does on paper. Therefore it is very important to not only be able to catch your mistakes, but fix them as well because even if your paper is strong overall, it can still lose it's persuasiveness and credibility if it is poorly written. 

For this outcome I chose my Short Assignment 2.1 because it was the paper that had the more substantial revisions done to it and demonstrates this outcome the best. In fact, most of my substantial revisions were done withing my body paragraphs, mainly my second body paragraph. With my second body paragraph, not only did I make it so that it flowed better as a paragraph, but I also took unnecessary information and either got rid of it, or replaced it with other information.One of the things that I got rid of or changed in my paper was the sentence "additionally it does not have a straight forward message" (Evans 1). However the main problem with my second body paragraph was that I was unclear about the definitions of Connoted and Denoted messages, so in my revision I made sure that I explained those word, and used them correctly within the paper.There were also many other things that I revised in the paper such as grammar errors, and getting rid of unnecessary quotations. For instance, I got rid of the quotations around the word message in my paper because, although it was quoted in the reading that was used to help write my paper, the audience would be confused as to why they were even there.

In my paper, the aspects within Outcome 4 such as the revisions were a very important part in making it an good essay. There were many revisions that I had to make in this essay. Many of the revisions that I made were due to the issues raised by my instructor and peers, such as grammatical errors and reworking my definitions of connoted and denoted messages. Through the use of Outcome 4 I was able to make my Short Assignment 2.1 much better than it originally was.
